 Peels, Treatments, Power Bleaching
and Clinical Facials

by Kat Leverette

Benefits of Our Clinical Treatments: (1) They exfoliate dead skin cells. (2) They gradually help fade dark spots and marks left by residual acne. (3) They help even out the skin tone and fade dark patches. (4) They help lighten shadowing in the beard area caused by razor bumps, shaving powders and chronic irritation. (5) They help soften and reduce the thickness of scar tissue. (6) They help clean out clogged pores. (7) They help remove and control excess oil. (8) They reduce flakiness and tightness. (9) They make extraction of pimples and blackheads easier to perform. (10) They help smooth rough-textured skin. (11) They help exfoliate dead skin cells that bury ingrown hairs. (12) They help deliver corrective ingredients deep into the follicles for better results. (13) They help reduce the depth of fine lines and wrinkles.

Before Your Peel, Treatment or Clinical Facial: The day of your procedure, do not scrub, shave, get facial waxing, use depilatory, exercise strenuously, get electrolysis, have your hair permed, tinted, bleached or relaxed, get dental work, get sunburned, pick your skin, overuse your products, use a washcloth or rub your face with a towel. Schedule all chemical hair treatments, waxing, electrolysis, etc. four or more days before or after your treatments at Solutions Center.

If your skin tends to be sensitive, do not use your active products, including lightener gels, AHA/BHA products, scrubs, vitamin A or BPO the night before your appointment.

If your skin looks irritated or sunburned, if you have cold sores, have shaved, "dotted" lightener onto spots, picked your skin, exercised strenuously, or are ill, your procedure will be rescheduled until your skin returns to normal. Be sure to let the esthetician know if you are using Accutane, Retin A or any other topical vitamin A product.

Women: If you have a low pain threshold, do not schedule a treatment with extractions right before or during your menstrual cycle. Extractions, permanent cosmetics, tattooing, electrolysis, dental work and waxing can be uncomfortable during "that time of the month."

After Your Peel, Treatment or Clinical Facial: Treat your skin very gently and avoid the sun. Postpone your workout until the following day. Use only cleanser, moisturizer, Aloe-Cort and sunscreen for the first 24 hours. If your skin is not irritated or peeling excessively, you may resume your normal skin care routine the following night.

Mild flaking, dryness, redness and sensitivity are normal and temporary. Jessners, 314 Peels and Scar Treatments can cause more flaking than Clinical Facials and our other AHA peels. Having a Power Bleach after your peel or facial may cause slightly more dryness and flaking. Extractions of deep, inflamed and older lesions occasionally cause mild scabbing and temporary darkening. Extracting them can help prevent deeper scarring and stubborn dark spots. Flaking and tiny scabs will come off (for the most part) by applying a thick coat of Sulfur Mask for 10 minutes the next two mornings following your treatment. Rinse off with cool water and your fingertips only, and proceed with moisturizer and sunscreen. Do not try to scrub off dead skin cells, which increases irritation and flaking. Use your home care products exactly as directed. Schedule a follow-up visit every month or two to have your skin, lifestyle and products re-evaluated and boosted if necessary.
